New Student Admissions
New student admissions are open throughout the year. Please email admissions to check if a spot is available before submitting the admission application or to inquire regarding the status of your child’s admission to eadmissions@abraarschool.com.
Admission Process for New Students
Admission process for new students occurs in the following three steps:
STEP 1
All new students (not current students) seeking admissions to Abraar School should use the New Student Admission Application to apply for admissions to Abraar Elementary School (Pre-K to Grade 6). You need to submit only once. Please print the confirmation at the end of the registration as proof. Please note that your registration is not complete until we receive a payment for the application fee. Your priority will be determined based on the time we receive your payment. All applicants are put on the waiting list in the applicable Priority Category (see below). Upon the availability of a spot, they will be notified to start STEP 2 of the admission process.
STEP 2
Upon the availability of a spot, a notification email will be sent to submit required documents for review to determine eligibility for admissions. At this point, students may be called in for an admission test, an interview, and/or to submit reference letters from their school.
STEP 3
Students will be notified of their admission status. If admitted, parents/guardians will be required to complete the online Registration Form on MACSIS along with paying the Registration Fee.
Admission Criteria
Please note the following:
- There is a one-time, non-refundable application fee to apply for admission.
- Admission applications are valid for the year they are submitted for and if a spot is unavailable can be extended with a written request at no additional charge.
- Admission of new students is on a first come first served basis.
- All applicants are put on the waiting list in their respective Priority Categories (see below) to be admitted upon the availability of a spot.
- When a spot becomes available, applicants will be required to submit additional documents for review to determine admissibility.
- Students will be notified of their admission status. If admitted, parents/guardians will be required to complete the online Registration Form on MACSIS along with paying the Registration Fee.
- If a spot is not available during the year, you may move to the waiting list of the following year at no extra charge by requesting us in writing via an email to eadmissions@abraarschool.com.
- Cut-off date for Age Determination: Students will only be registered into the grade based on their birth-date (according to Ontario system). Ex. All JK students must be 4 years old by Dec.31st of the year they are being admitted.
- Students with Special Needs: Abraar school does not have the facilities to accommodate special need students (gifted and children with learning and physical disabilities).
- Academic Criteria for Grades 1-6: Students coming from other schools must have an overall C average in core subjects (math and English) in their most recent reports cards or must successfully pass an assessment test.
- Students coming from outside Ontario: Students coming from abroad will be assessed in math and English before being placed on the relevant grades based on their age. Assessments of the Welcome Centre may be taken into consideration for under age students coming from abroad, however if the performance for one full term in core subjects is below the provincial standard (B), students may be demoted.
- All applicants will be required to provide previous report cards to be considered for admission. As applicable, applicants may need to pass an assessment test in order to be admitted.
- Upon admitted, all new students will be automatically put on a two months probation period.
