Al-Furqan Part-Time School Curriculum
Welcome to Al Furqan Part Time Programs!
Evening part-time school students are currently ages 5 to 14 years (Children, youth and adults) with diverse Arabic and Non-Arabic home language backgrounds.
Levels 1 to 3 focus on Al-Nooraniya (learning how to read Quran perfectly with Arabic plus memorizing short Suwar).
Levels 4 to 6 focus on Tajweed and memorization (In these levels students memorize the last 3 parts of the Quran (Juzu’s 30, 29, 28).
Level 7,8 ,9 and 10 are advanced memorization of Surah Al-Baqarah, Al-Imran, An-Nisaa, and focus on reading proficiency with Tajweed & Tarteel, correct the recitation and also working on memorizing the last 5 Juza from the holy Quran.

Noraniyah: lessons (1 – 13)
Quran Memorization: Surah Al-Fatiha plus from Surah Quraish to Surah An-Naas.

Level 3: (Grade 3) – الثالث المستوى
Noraniyah: Practical lessons (Review the whole Noraniyah book)
Quran Memorization: From Al-Mutafifen to Surah Al-Lail
Apply all the Tajweed rules as per Noraniyah book.

Level 4: (Grade 4) – المستوى الرابع
Quran Memorization: from Surah Al-Muzamil to Surah Al-Infitar
Tajweed lessons: Benefits of learning Tajweed, Ghunnah, Rules of Noon Sakinha and Tanween, and Al-qalqalah.
Level 5: (Grade 5) – المستوى الخامس
Quran Memorization: from Surah At-Talaq to Surah Al-Jinn
Tajweed lessons: Rules of Meem Sakinah, Ruling of Heavy and Light letters (Tafkhem and Tarqeq), and Iqlab.
Level 6: (Grade 6) – المستوى السادس
Quran Memorization: from Surah Al-Mujadilah to Surah At-Tagabun
Tajweed lessons: All types of Maad, Hams and Jahr, and the qaualities of the letters (Sifaat)
Level 7: (Grade 6 to 12) – المستوى السابع
Quran Memorization: Memorizing Surah Al-Baqarah with Tajweed and Tarteel + Tafseer (Quran Translation)
Level 8: (Grade 6 to 12) – المستوى الثامن
Quran Memorization: Memorizing Surah Aal-Imran with Tajweed and Tarteel + Tafseer (Quran Translation)
Level 9: (Grade 6 to 12) – المستوى التاسع
Quran Memorization: Memorizing Surah An-Niasaa with Tajweed and Tarteel + Tafseer (Quran Translation)
Level 10: Advanced Hifz & Reading – المستوى العاشر (New)
(Reading proficiency with Tarteel and Tajweed & correcting the recitation)
- Reading proficiency: (read Quran with perfect Tajweed rules and Tarteel)
- Quran Memorization: focus in the last 5 Juaz or memorizing the rest of Suwar in the holy Quran.
(Also in Level 10, you have an option to continue your previous Hifz or choose any Juaz or chapter from the Quran to memorize it InshaAllah).
- Revision: review previous memorization (Hifz)
(condition: students in level 10 must be able to read from the Quran book to be able to join this level or at least passed the level 6 at Al-Furqan).

Quran reading and memorization with learning Tajweed rules for adults and parents.

Quran reading and memorization with learning Tajweed rules for adults and parents.
Classes details
Level 1: (Grade SK&1) – المستوى الاول
This class focus on the recognition, proper pronunciation, and characteristics of letters. Students will cover Lesson 1 to Lesson 13 of Noraniyah book:
Students will learn in the first semester:
- Correct names of letters
- Proper articulation of letters (Makharij/articulation points)
- Recognize letters in different positions with special focus on Qur’aanic script
- Proper length & mechanism of three short vowels (fat-haa, kasrah, dhammah)
- Tanween (fat-hatan, kasratan dhammatan)
Students will learn in the second semester:
- Alif Sagheera, waaw sagheera, yaa sagheera (madd silah sughra)
- Three letters of madd (long vowels) and two letters of leen (waa & yaa)
- Sukoon and sifaat/characteristics of letters (hams, rakhawah, qalqalah, ghunnah, tafkheem, etc.)
Level 2: (Grade 1&2) – المستوى الثاني
This class focus on major rules of Tajweed and principles of Tilawah through extensive in-class practice and mentoring from the classroom teacher, Students will cover Lesson 1 to Lesson 17 of Noraniyah book:
Students will learn in the first semester:
- Recognize letters in different positions with special focus on Qur’aanic script
- Recognize heavy (tafkheem) and light letters (tarqeeq), the basic rule of Raa
- Proper length & mechanism of three short vowels (fat-haa, kasrah, dhammah)
- Tanween (fat-hatan, kasratan dhammatan)
Students will learn in the second semester:
- Madd waajib Muttasil (5x)
- Hamzat Alwasl (pronounciation in middle vs. beginning)
- Sukoon and sifaat/characteristics of letters (hams, rakhawah, qalqalah, ghunnah, tafkheem, etc.)
- Rules for waqf (stopping) of recitation are practiced extensively
- Rules of ghunnah, raa saakin, madd jaa’iz munfasil, two saakin, hamzat alwasl
Level 3 details: (Grade 3) – الثالث المستوى
Upon completion of the Noraniyah Level 1&2 classes, or successfully passing an evaluation, students move on to reading and recitation (stage 2). Often starting with Juzu’ Amma (Juzu’ 30) from Surah An-Nabaa’ to avoid students’ reliance on memory, as most have memorized short surah/end of Juzu Amma. The goal of stage 2 class is to strengthen reading abilities and increase fluency and consistency in applying Tajweed & Tilawah principles. Some students may need to continue with stage 2 until they become more independent and fluent with their recitation, while others, may be encouraged to focus on open book reading as it may be difficult to manage memorization with Tajweed as a beginner. In this class, students will focus on recitation while applying Tajweed & Tilawah skills learned in the Noraniyah stage. The focus is on open book recitation more than memorization, unless the student is capable of both simultaneously.
