Achievements
2024-2025
- OGHS Girls’ Basketball Team won their first ROPSSAA games against Glenforest Secondary School and Clarkson Secondary School.
- 30 OGHS students participated in the MoHack Health Quest at Mohawk College, where they solved one of several health challenges. Two of our teams were runner ups in the competition
- OGHS Boys’ Cross Country team came second in the cross country run organized by Gibraltar Leadership Academy
- OGHS Girls’ Basketball Team won their division in ROPSSAA and participated in OFSSAA, being only 1 out of 18 schools in tier 1 to make it to the provincials!
- 90 OGHS students participated in DECA Business Competition, competing against several schools in the region. Six of our students medalled at the regional competition
- OGHS Girls’ won GOLD at the Inter-Islamic Volleyball Tournament
- OGHS Boys’ won GOLD at the Inter-Islamic Volleyball Tournament
- Grade 10 student won first place in the CMU CS Academy competition for Python coding
- OGHS Girls’ Volleyball won their ROPSSAA game against St. Joseph Catholic School
- Two OGHS students won silver and bronze medals in the University of Waterloo, Senior Financial Literacy Competition (FLC)
- 19 OGHS students achieved distinction in the Beaver Computing Challenge held in the fall, scoring in the top 25% of all competitors in the school
- Our Grade 11 student received an Honourable Mention award at the University of Toronto Model United Nations (UTMUN), debate training and competition
- For World Math Day Mathletics, OGHS students got 5th place across Canada
- 3 OGHS students received a certificate of distinction in the University of Waterloo Math competition
- Our Grade 12 student made the semi-finals for the Ontario Loran Community Scholarship, based on evidence of character, service and leadership potential
- OGHS Girls’ Basketball Team won GOLD in the Inter-Islamic School Basketball Tournament
- Two Grade 11 students represented Canada in the FIRST Robotics Competition; a world-wide competition held in Houston
- OGHS students gave an outstanding performance at MIST (Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament) and got 2nd place for most spirit points
- OGHS Girls’ Basketball Team won GOLD at MIST
- The following positions were also won in different categories at MIST:
- 3rd place in Fashion Design
- 3rd place in Business Venture
- 1st place in Quran Memorization (Level 2)
- Most Spirited Individual
- 2nd place in Girls’ Soccer
- 1st place in Girls’ Improv
- Our Grade 12 student scored in the highest 92 percentile in the University of Toronto Biology Competition
- OGHS Boys’ team won SILVER and Girls’ won BRONZE in the Inter-Islamic School Soccer Tournament
- A Grade 10 student competed at the Canadian National Rowing Competition
2023-2024
OGHS Varsity Girls’ Basketball team won their first game against Clarkson Secondary School as part of ROPSSAA (Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association) regular session
OGHS Varsity Boys’ Volleyball team defeated Loyola Catholic Secondary School as part of ROPSSAA regular session
Over 50 OGHS students participated in DECA Regional Business Competition and brought home 16 awards in various categories of the competition
19 OGHS students competing in DECA Regionals qualified for DECA Provincials
OGHS Boys’ Basketball Team secured its first wins of the season in ROPSSAA against Port Credit Secondary School and Lorne Park Secondary School
OGHS Boys’ Basketball Team won GOLD in Inter-Islamic School Tournament
OGHS Boys’ Basketball Team won four games in a row at ROPSSAA and placed 1st in their division
26 OGHS students won prizes in the University of Waterloo Financial Literacy Competition, with 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 16 Bronze prizes in the junior competition, and 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze in the senior competition
Grade 11 student won 3rd position for the CPAO Write to Ignite Competition
Grade 12 student was awarded the DECA Alum Entrance Scholarship for $15000 by McMaster University
Grade 9, 10 and 11 students won medals in the different competitions at ‘The Mathematics Contest’ run by the University of Waterloo
Boys’ Volleyball Team won GOLD and Girls’ Volleyball Team won SILVER in Inter-Islamic School Tournament hosted by OGS
OGHS Junior Soccer team won two out of three ROPSSAA games
OGHS Badminton Doubles team brought home GOLD at the Inter-Islamic school tournament
Both Boys’ & Girls’ Basketball team won GOLD at MIST (Muslim Interscholastic Tournament)
Boys’ Soccer Team won GOLD and Girls’ Soccer team won BRONZE at MIST
A Grade 10 student was selected in the top 5 contestants of the science fair at MIST and was invited to the nationals.
Both Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer Teams won GOLD at the Inter-Islamic School Soccer Tournament
Two Grade 9 students came second in the CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) Ontario Competition, winning a $800 and $600 cash prizes
A Grade 11 student scored in the 98th percentile, and scored among the top 5% students in all of Canada for the UOfT Biology Competition and was awarded the National Biology Scholar Award
2022-2023
- One of our Gr 10 students won second place in the Computer Science Competition held by Carnegie Mellon University, CS Academy.
- Four of our Gr 12 students won second place in the Medical Innovation category at the FLC HOSA tournament.
- In the Financial Literacy Competition held by University of Waterloo, two of our students won second place while three won third place.
- Over 35 OGHS students competed in the DECA’s Regional Business Competition, with 7 of them moving on to compete at the provincial competition.
- Our Gr 12 student placed second in Canada in the Arabic Reading Challenge and represented our country in the ceremony hosted in Dubai.
- OGHS Boys’ Volleyball team secured their first win at ROPSSAA!
- OGHS Senior Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Teams brought home GOLD in the Inter-Islamic Basketball Tournament!
2021-2022
- Girls’ placed third in MIST Bowl
- OGHS placed first in Business Venture at MIST
- OGHS got third place for Overall School Spirit at MIST
- OGHS got second place for Best Overall School at MIST
- Grade 12 student placed second for Spoken Word at MIST
- Grade 11 student placed first in Watermelon Eating Competition at MIST
- Both Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer Team won GOLD at MIST!
- OGHS Girls’ Basketball Team won GOLD at MIST
- Grade 10 students placed 1st and 2nd at the Dar-Al-Tawheed Poetry Competition
- Grade 11 student came in the top 5 at HOSA competition in the BioMedical Lab Category
- 4 Grade 11 students placed in the top 10 qualifiers for HOSA Bowl
- Olive Grove High School secured first place in the high school division for World Maths Day competition with Mathletics!
- 49 students from grade 9-11 participated in Math Competitions at Waterloo University, with 3 school champions who have scored the highest in each grade.
- Four of our High School students were placed in the top five at HOSA, in the Medical Innovation category.
- OGHS student was recognized as one of the ‘Best Delegates’ for representing Brazil at Model UN UofT Competition.
- OGHS students appeared on CTV as part of the launch of MAC’s Islam Awareness Website, where they expressed their views on Islamophobia in Public Schools.
- Our students participated in the challenge ‘Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was a Mercy for the Whole World’, along with MAC Schools across Canada. 3 of our students placed first, second & third in the Creative Design category.
- OGHS participated in Mayor Crombie’s annual Food Drive and in collaboration with OGMS, collected food items enough to provide 609 meals, adding to the collective OGS contribution of 2278 meals all together.
- A Grade 10 student was featured in “Elections 2021: Here’s what these Canadian kids care about” on CBC Kids News.
2020-2021
- OGHS ranked first all across Canada in a global celebration of Mathematics on World Math Day!
- OGHS students participated for the first time in the Model UN Conference and gave an outstanding performance MashaAllah, with a Grade 11 student winning the Best Delegate for Bolivia award and a Grade 10 student winning the title of Outstanding Delegate for the Maldives.
- Four OGHS students placed in the top 10 in their divisions at HOSA Canada, with a Grade 10 student being placed in the top 3 and moving to compete at the international level! HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is an international competition that provides a unique program of leadership development and motivation for students interested in pursuing careers in health professions
- Nine OGHS students made it to the provincial level of the business competition, DECA after competing in regionals
- 15 students from grades 9 & 10 received Honours with Distinction in the University of Waterloo ‘Beaver Computing Challenge’ competing against 4700 students
- OGHS made it to the top 3 schools in the First MIST 2021 Spirit
- OGHS Broadcast club launched OGCNN (Olive Grove Campus News Network), the school’s first news channel
2019-2020
- OGHS won multiple awards at DECA Regionals.
- Two of our High School students won first and second place in MAC Youth National Photography Contest.
- OGHS students participated in MAC’s ‘Hope & Pray in the Six’ event in collaboration with United Way to end poverty in Toronto.
- Both the Senior Boys’ as well as Senior Girls’ Basketball teams won Silver in the Inter-Islamic School Tournament.
- High School Girls’ Basketball team brought home Gold!
2018-2019
- The first Olive Grove High School batch attends MIST Toronto and wins ‘Rookie School of the Year’ award
