OGHS GRADUATES CONTINUING THEIR ACADEMIC JOURNEY!
Academics At OGHS
Timeless Teachings in a Changing World
The pursuit of academic excellence governs MAC Olive Grove High School life. A school program that focuses on the acquisition of Knowledge and Skills within a vibrant Islamic context will be powered by the school’s strong academic program which demands excellent teaching and student participation and accountability. A focus on learning and practicing Islamic values along with developing academic skills and applying them in all endeavors is the hallmark of our program.
High School is an exciting time in the student’s life, full of opportunity and a chance to explore a variety of programs as they start planning their future. It is a great opportunity to continue to build independence and encourage accountability. High school is a crucial part of the student learning journey. It is a means to achieve lifelong goals as education provides them with a good outcome and prepares them for a successful future in their destination of choice.
Students will study a full program of eight courses per year distributed equally among 2 semesters. Successful completion will allow students to earn one credit per course for a total of eight credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
STEAM AT MAC OGHS
What is STEAM? In a rapidly changing world, key skills and characteristics developed through STEAM will be critical for everyone. In fact, even if you don’t want to work in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math, STEAM learning will undoubtedly benefit each and every one of us from coast to coast. To understand why we have to set our sights on tomorrow.
These skills allow Muslim Canadians to engage in discovery and innovation, in groundbreaking research, or in the creation of new technologies that can impact the lives of people. These advanced skills are typically acquired through postsecondary education, Master’s, and Ph.D. programs.
“STEAM” is much more than meets the eye. It not only builds critical skills but STEAM-based learning also fosters creativity, resiliency, ‘grit’ and communication – key characteristics of innovative thinkers and problem solvers! Everyone benefits from quality STEAM-based learning.
Extra- Curricular
The most successful students are involved in extracurricular activities. This involvement provides additional opportunities for students to practice communication skills. Students will also make friends, build confidence and discover a new skill.
Apart from curriculum based field trips, students at OGHS also have the opportunity to participate in competitions like DECA Business Competition and MIST at Provincial and National levels.
Student Clubs
Students at MAC OGHS should engage in clubs designated for extra-curricular and maximize their time learning in social environments. Clubs range from yearbook association, DECA, MIST, broadcast, and most recently introduced HOSA for those interested in pursuing careers in health professions. Students interested in a particular topic can start their own club by speaking with the school administration.
The OGHS Broadcast Club has successfully launched the school’s first News Channel, OGCNN (Olive Grove Campus News Network) in December 2020.
