About Olive Grove Preschool Program
Olive Grove Preschool and Toddler Program has been a part of the Mississauga Community for over 10 years.
Children in our care and their families receive high quality child care in an environment that encourages inclusion and values cultural diversity. In order for our program to meet the needs of the children as they develop and grow, we recognize and appreciate the importance of our partnerships with families in our program as well as the community. Embracing open communication, mutual trust, and respect are important to our organization. All of these are essential elements of establishing a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Olive Grove Preschool is licensed for 34 childcare spaces, servicing children ages 18 months - 4 years old. Our non-profit program is open year-round and closes only on Statutory and Eid Holidays.
Olive Grove preschool and Toddler Program statement
At Olive Grove Preschool and Toddler Program we view children as competent, capable of complex thinking, curious and rich in potential. Through the guidance of “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (2014)”, we are able to provide a high quality, inclusive program for children and families. By embedding the Four Foundations of “How Does Learning Happen?” belonging, well-being, engagement and expression into our program, we can ensure that the “whole” child is nourished and can develop to his/her full potential.
For each child, we work to ensure they will feel a sense of belonging by cultivating authentic relationships and connections with their educators, peers and the environment around them. By establishing and having secure and loving relationships with their educators, children will feel safe to explore and learn about the world around them. A strong sense of belonging will also contribute to their social, emotional and communication development.
We provide each child with guidance and skills to help them develop a healthy sense of self and well-being. By giving each child the opportunity to explore their own capabilities we help build their self-confidence while they learn new self-help skills and routines. Through a variety of gross motor activities, our natural playground environment and exploration of our larger community, our children are able to develop a greater appreciation for their own body’s abilities as well as the environment around them. Nutritious meals and snacks also ensure each child is provided with what they need to move through the day with health and energy. As all children are competent and capable, they are also encouraged to self-serve their meals when appropriate, building on very important self-help skills. Our children are also provided with a rest period to help them recharge and be ready for the rest of their day.
Through a balance of child initiated and teacher-initiated activities our children become engaged learners who explore the world with body, mind and senses. Our goal is to facilitate daily experiences where children are engaged in creative, active and meaningful exploration, play and inquiry. Our program uniquely integrates Arabic and Islamic Education (short Surahs from the Quran, Islamic mannerism, stories about our Prophets, and duas) into our daily activities and routines as well.
Our children are encouraged to meaningfully express themselves. Whether it is through verbal or non-verbal cues, value is placed on respecting how each child is able to express and self-regulate themselves. We focus on listening, responding to and building on children’s conversations. Our program exposes our children to early literacy materials from other parts of the world. By having a variety of open-ended materials that inspire creative play between the children, we are able to foster genuine and meaningful conversations between peers and educators.
Our Educators
Our educators work hard to have every child that enters our program feel loved and cherished while here with us. Our knowledgeable educators get involved in the children’s play to support their development, challenge thinking and extend learning. Our educators are reflective practitioners who use their knowledge of child development, observations, and discussions with families to learn how children make sense of the world around them. Documentation, reflecting and acting upon feedback from parent and educator surveys are consistently used to ensure the needs of our families, children and educators are being met. Our educators are supported and encouraged to seek out continuous professional education opportunities that will strengthen their knowledge base and implementation of our program statement.
Our educators work hand in hand with community partners, such as PIRS, to help and support the needs of each child in our program.
We believe that as your child’s parent, you are the expert when it comes to your child. We look to you and value your opinion and requests for your child while in our care. We want to work with you to ensure we are able to provide the best possible experience for your child every day.

Program Fee
We are pleased to share that Olive Grove Preschool and Toddler Program is participating in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, which we refer to as CWELCC, and has notified the Region of Peel.
CWELCC is a landmark agreement for parents with children in our Early Learning and Child Care
Programs. The upcoming fee reductions are substantial and apply to our program’s fee.
The Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) Agreement will support Ontario families to achieve an average fee of $10 per day for children under the age of six by 2025 through phased reductions.
2023 fees will be reduced by 52.75% of the January 2022 monthly fee. The reduced fee is outlined in the chart below.
Please note that part time enrollment is not available during the academic year. Part time enrollment is available during the summer months (July and August) providing that the enrollment of choice is consistent the entire summer months.
Food
A hot lunch and two nutritious snacks will be provided to all children. Menus are posted on the parent’s bulletin board and in all classrooms in advance and the meals provided will meet the dietary requirement of all the licensing bodies. Parents should complete the area on the enrollment form concerning any specific dietary needs, if necessary. Please do not give your child any candy or chewing gum to bring to the school. Due to the increase of childhood allergies, we are asking parents not to send food from home with their children. Any snacks or meals will be provided by the Preschool and Toddler Program, this allows us to prevent any accidental exposure to children who may have certain food allergies.
Community Partners
Olive Grove preschool understands the importance of the community and the opportunities it provides as another learning environment for the children in the program. Olive Grove Preschool is committed to developing close partnerships with the community to support the children and families in our program.
We also view the community as a valuable resource and our educators plan learning opportunities to engage the community in our programs such as walks through the neighborhood, plan visits from community officials such as police and fire departments. We optimize the opportunities that the community has to offer and use them as an extension of the classroom, so the children may explore and make connections and build on the knowledge that they already have.
Olive Grove Preschool will connect with the following community partners to better support the mental health and well-being of children and families:
- Resource Consultants from the PIRS program
- Raising the Bar Program provided by the CDRCP: https://youtu.be/bQXsf4gfuXM
- Community Colleges
