Chromebook Fees

CHROMEBOOKS

● Chromebooks related policy items are applicable to all grade 8 & up students.
● All grade 8 & up students are required to use school provisioned Chromebooks during school hours.

OWNERSHIP OF OGS CHROMEBOOKS
● The school owned Chromebooks are leased to the students for educational purposes only on
annual bases during the academic year.
● All leased Chromebooks will be returned to OGS by the end of the school year.
● Olive Grove School administrative staff and faculty retain the right to collect and/or inspect
Chromebooks at any time for content or to alter, add, delete installed software or hardware.
● The school reserves the right to revoke Chromebook/computer use if the student does not
adhere to the guidelines below.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CHROMEBOOK
Students are responsible for the Chromebooks issued to them and must adhere to the following:

● Students must treat their device with care and never leave it in an unsecured location outside
of OGS classrooms.
● Students must promptly report any problems with their Chromebooks to their teacher.
● Students may not remove or interfere with the serial number and other identification tags.
● Students may not attempt to remove or change the physical structure of a leased
Chromebook, including the keys, screen cover or plastic covering.
● Students may not attempt to install or run any operating system on the Chromebook other
than the Chrome OS operating system supported by the school.
● Students must keep their devices clean.
● Students may not switch Chromebooks at any time.
●  Students must take their Chromebooks home at the end of each school day.
● Parents are expected to monitor their child’s activity.

CHROMEBOOK WARRANTY AND INSURANCE
● In the event of a school owned Chromebook requiring repair, the device will be given to the
homeroom teacher or the OGS office in a timely manner.
● A loaner device will be provided during the time of repair.
● In the event that the device was not in line with normal use and damaged beyond repair,
stolen or lost, a replacement charge of $500 maximum will apply.
● A replacement charge of $50 will apply for damaged, stolen or lost original chromebook
chargers.
